Confusion

I am super confused.

I went to the dentist last week (no, that isn't quite enough to confuse me) and as soon as I sat down in the chair the dental technician person started asking me all these personal question. You know, like "how are you?", and "what do you have planned for the weekend?", the basics things medical professionals ask as they perform their various, sometimes unpleasant, tasks. Now, some of you may be thinking, "What's the big deal? What is he trying to get at?" Well, lets just remember where I am when these questions are being asked. I am in a dentists chair, lying back, with a bright light in my face and a couple of hands IN MY MOUTH. Now tell me, how in the world is someone supposed to carry on a conversation with the dentist when he or she has their hands in your mouth. Has anyone ever thought about this? Please tell me I'm not the only one. Seriously, I'm not even going to risk trying to reply to a question when I run the risk of biting my dentists fingers or getting jabbed by that nasty looking, hook shaped, scraper, poker thing. I really don't want to injure my dentist or leave the office with a gaping inner cheek, or tongue wound. I know they are only trying to be friendly and to ease your nerves but I'm sure they could do it another way. That is why I think dentists should take up story telling. Does anyone agree?

Those are my two cents. I hope it made some sense.
